Service interrupted at Hong Kong Jockey Club betting centres for second time in two days
Brief outage comes just a day after similar event caused Mark Six draw to be postponed
Services at more than half of the Jockey Club’s betting centres in Hong Kong were suspended for two hours on Wednesday afternoon, just a day after a historic breakdown at all of the club’s outlets due to a network glitch.
The suspension was reported at 4.05pm, just hours before racing was due to begin. Service resumed by 6pm.
On Wednesday afternoon, punters told media that services at outlets in several districts were suspended, including Shau Kei Wan, Shanghai Street in Yau Ma Tei, Kwun Tong, Tsim Sha Tsui, Wong Tai Sin and Sham Shui Po.
But the club’s online and telephone betting were reported to be normal.
A club spokesman said according to initial findings, the problem was caused by an internal software issue, a different problem to the “internal network issue” reported on Tuesday.
“The club has taken immediate action and the betting services at the 57 off-course betting branches have resumed,” he said.

The Mark Six draw scheduled for Tuesday night was postponed after a glitch left punters unable to gamble at its 102 off-course centres across the city, marking the first time the Hong Kong Jockey Club had suspended all betting services at its outlets.
Initial findings suggested the glitch on Tuesday was caused by an internal network issue, prompting the club to switch to another data centre.
The club has launched an investigation.
