Two men were stabbed in a vicious gang attack near a Hong Kong public housing estate on Saturday, in an incident that was captured on camera by a passing motorist.

The pair were ambushed on Prince Edward Road East, close to Choi Hung Estate in East Kowloon, when their car was rammed into a concrete median by one vehicle, and prevented from escaping by another.

Police said the attack occurred around 3.30pm, and the two victims had been taken to hospital suffering from knife wounds.

Two videos subsequently began circulating online, and show a group of masked attackers jump from two silver cars, and attack the victim’s vehicle with long-shaped objects.

Several of the attackers are seen climbing on to the road divider and attacking the passenger side of the car, even as other vehicles drive past.

At least six people are visible in one clip captured by another passing motorist, while another video shows an attacker making a stabbing motion through the window of the victims’ car.

A police spokesman said the pair were conscious, despite their wounds, and were sent to United Christian Hospital in Kwun Tong, and Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Yau Ma Tei separately for treatment.

The spokesman said the attackers had abandoned two vehicles and fled the scene in a third car.

At around 4pm, the Transport Department announced part of the road would be closed to all traffic.

An investigation is under way.
