An 88-year-old woman, her 73-year-old son and her 40-year-old granddaughter were arrested after they got into a late-night fight at their flat on Thursday.

The elderly woman returned to her flat in Rousseau Heights on Ap Lei Chau Main Street, Aberdeen, shortly before 11.30pm. But she had forgotten her key and could not get in.

She got into an argument with her family members after she pressed the doorbell and her granddaughter answered the door.

“A preliminary investigation showed that during the dispute, the woman’s son and granddaughter attacked her with their hands, and then she beat the two,” a police spokesman said.

Officers were called in after a neighbour heard the dispute and called police.

The grandmother suffered minor hand injuries and was taken to Queen Mary Hospital in Pok Fu Lam. Her son and granddaughter were unhurt.

Police arrested the three for common assault.
