A couple were in custody on Tuesday, along with two feng shui practitioners, after being arrested on suspicion of murdering their daughter in a Hong Kong village house, according to police.

Emergency services headed to the three-storey house in Lung Mei Village, Sai Kung, soon after 7.30am on Monday after the father called 999 and said his daughter had passed out at home.

Suffering multiple injuries, his 21-year-old daughter was found unconscious in bed. She was certified dead by paramedics at the scene, according to police.

“Initial investigation revealed that the 50-year-old father, his 52-year-old wife, his 49-year-old male friend and his 29-year-old female friend were suspected to have assaulted the deceased with hands, plastic racquets and a pair of slippers,” police said in a statement on Tuesday.

“They were arrested for murder and are being detained for further inquiries.”

A pair of slippers and three plastic racquets believed to have been used on the victim were seized from the house.

Police said an autopsy would be carried out to ascertain the cause of death.

On Monday night, the four were hooded and handcuffed as they were led from the house and driven to Wong Tai Sin Police Station, where they were being held for questioning.

The couple’s two friends were a feng shui master and his female apprentice, who shared the house with the couple.

A note which appeared to be a talisman was found stuck on one of the house’s windows.

As of 12 noon on Tuesday, the four suspects were still being held for questioning and had not been charged.
