Double-decker bursts into flames at Hong Kong bus terminal
No one was on board the Kowloon Motor Bus vehicle at the time
Smoke poured out of a double-decker bus after it burst into flames in Tsuen Wan on Tuesday afternoon.
The Kowloon Motor Bus vehicle on route 30 caught fire while parked at a bus terminal outside Allway Gardens in Tsuen King Circuit shortly before 2.30pm, according to police.
No one was on board at the time of the incident.
“A passer-by told police that the rear part of the bus first burst into flames,” a police spokesman said.
Photographs circulated online showed black smoke billowing from the burning vehicle and drifting skyward.
The fire department deployed a fire engine and an ambulance to the scene.
“Firemen used a water jet to fight the blaze. It was extinguished at 2.37pm, and no casualties were reported in the incident,” a Fire Services Department spokesman said.
The fire department is investigating.
