Officers were on Thursday night searching for a shooter on Hong Kong Island, after a police car was fired on with an airgun in Happy Valley, the second such attack in only a month.

The shooting happened at about 12.45pm, soon after officers drove the car from Happy Valley Police Station on Sing Woo Road.

According to police, the vehicle’s windscreen was hit, causing it to crack.

At about 4pm, a team of officers was sent to search the area and gather evidence.

It was the second such case in only a month. On August 17, another police car was believed to have been shot with an airgun when it parked on Electric Road, near the junction with Tin Chong Street, in North Point. No one was injured, but the car’s window was cracked.

Officers found a metal pellet at the scene.
