Off-duty Hong Kong police officer killed after his high-powered motorcycle crashes in Tai Po

An off-duty Hong Kong police officer was killed after his high-powered motorcycle crashed in Tai Po late on Saturday night.
The 33-year-old officer, who served in the Police Tactical Unit in the New Territories North region and was based in Tai Po, was riding his Honda CB1000R along Tai Po Tai Wo Road when he lost control at a bend and rammed into railings near the junction with Tolo Highway at about 11.40pm.
He was thrown off his bike and sustained serious head injuries. A woman in a passing vehicle applied first aid before he was sent to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital in Tai Po.
He was certified dead at 12.28am.
The officer lived with his family in Tuen Mun’s Melody Garden estate.
The damaged motorcycle was taken to the police’s Vehicle Examination Centre in Tai Lam Chung.
The police’s special traffic investigation team in New Territories North was looking into the crash.
