Hong Kong fashion lovers might get an opportunity to rub shoulders with design maestro Professor Jimmy Choo Yeang Keat, and maybe take a few style tips from him, by entering a charity raffle.

The footwear legend joined hands with the Kowloon Shangri-La hotel to raise funds for Operation Santa Claus, the annual charity drive organised by the South China Morning Post and public broadcaster RTHK.

Lucky-draw tickets are available for HK$50 each at the hotel from now until January 12, 2020, with a grand prize of a holiday for two in Kuala Lumpur.

Besides two return air tickets and three nights’ accommodation at the Shangri-La in the Malaysian capital, the grand prize includes a private meal and a half-day chauffeur-driven sightseeing tour with Choo, who is an ambassador for Tourism Malaysia.

The second prize is a one-night stay in a suite at the Kowloon Shangri-La, while the third prize is HK$3,000 in dining credit.

In a Christmas tree lighting ceremony held at the hotel last week, Juergen Doerr, area vice-president and general manager of the Kowloon Shangri-La, invited guests to pitch in with the fundraising drive.

It is the 17th year that Kowloon Shangri-La has supported Operation Santa Claus, and all proceeds collected through the charity event will go to the year-end campaign.

“We want to create more impact for needful people in Hong Kong, especially for children,” Doerr said.

He noted that Choo had contributed to the hotel group’s charity initiative in different ways.

The Malaysian-born stiletto designer, whose clients have included Hollywood celebrities and Princess Diana, designed linen bags and sketch cards to raise money for Operation Santa Claus last year.

The lucky draw will be held at the hotel on January 16, 2020.
