Innovation defines Oskar Frech's push for die-casting excellence

From car engine blocks and escalators to mobile phones and zippers, everything ranging from commonplace products to the most sophisticated begin as molten metal injected into a mould. Die casting has allowed companies such as Oskar Frech to manufacture precision products that demand the highest dimensional accuracy for automotive, information technology (IT) and other sectors. 

Developing standard-setting machines, Oskar Frech has been a leading manufacturer of hot and cold chamber machines and automation equipment. Among its numerous milestones was manufacturing the first magnesium hot chamber die-casting machine and introducing the first all-electric-driven die-casting machine that firmly established its industry leadership.

"Our focus has always been on innovation - developing new processes and new products," says Louis Braun, executive director for marketing and sales, cold chamber die-casting machines. "With more than 300 patents, we can supply machines for almost every size."

Leveraging German engineering know-how, the company provides high-quality, environment-friendly and energy-efficient solutions for customers worldwide. Its machines have produced engine blocks and parts for carmakers including Audi, Volkswagen, Dacia, PSA and Mercedes-Benz. 

In China, Oskar Frech has built a business legacy spanning 20 years. Its Shanghai subsidiary, the second-largest worldwide, supplied more than 200 die-cast machines to Foxconn to manufacture IT products. It also counts First Automobile Works and KPSNC among its Chinese partners.

"With China producing approximately 18 million cars annually, European and American car manufacturers are expanding their businesses there, and we're ready to help them grow," says Jurgen Lamparter, executive director for sales, cold chamber die-casting machines. Providing after-sales services, Oskar Frech maintains a dedicated engineering team, highlighting China's importance in the company's regional growth. Complemented by its Singapore base, the company is expanding into South Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines and the rest of Southeast Asia.

Oskar Frech is also supporting magnesium parts production by supplying die-casting machines and furnaces. 

The light and versatile metal is abundant in China and is in high demand in factories.
