Savour Ginza tastes and flavours at Sushi Shikon in Hong Kong

The delicacies on offer at this Japanese restaurant with three Michelin stars are tempting, fresh and delicious

Mackerel sushi at Sushi Shikon

From its location at the modest Mercer Hotel in Sheung Wan to the delicacies that chef Yoshiharu Kakinuma whips up daily, Sushi Shikon brings surprises worthy of its three Michelin stars. Influenced by Ginza tastes and flavours, Sushi Shikon is an offshoot of founder Masahiro Yoshitake’s more famous eatery in Tokyo. The Hong Kong version has only eight seats at the sushi counter and private room for six.

The comfortable dining area in Sushi Shikon is perhaps not the best place for discussing trade secrets.

The menu is mostly omikase, depending on which fresh ingredients are flown in that morning. The dinner menu offers five appetisers and 10 pieces of sushi. The abalone with liver sauce is divine. It’s a great spot to take an important client you may wish to impress.
