Fashion designers Dorian Ho and Melissa Bui are sparkling this Christmas

Fashion designer Dorian Ho is known for his wedding-gown designs and glitzy dresses. His eponymous label is well-known among Hong Kong’s A-list celebrities. He is also one of the few Hong Kong designers to have successfully launched a men’s collection.

Lately, I’ve been … introducing a cross-over jewellery collection with Arte Madrid. My next big project is to design a watch collection, as I’m a big fan of watches.

Describe yourself in three words …. aggressive, determined and ambitious.

To me, Christmas means … the most intimate festival to spend with my loved ones.

This Christmas, my wish list includes … a snowy Christmas holiday.

My favourite place to spend Christmas is … definitely New York, as I love the weather, the shopping environment and the mood there.

My favourite Christmas memory is … the first Christmas I spent in the US. I remember I was an exchange student – I was only 16 – and my host family gave me a really warm Christmas party as they knew that I missed my family so much.

My tips for Christmas shopping … I usually write down a list of what I want to get and whom I want to shop for before doing my Christmas shopping. I like to shop at department stores as I can get pretty much everything I need to buy there.

My style tips for dressing for the festive season … I suggest something bling bling! Red, gold or silver as these are the festive colours. They pretty much go with everything.

My wish for loved ones is ... definitely good health and happiness. Ever since I got a severe headache due to an anxiety attack at the beginning of the year, I have been taking more rest and holidays to release my stress. I realise that there’s nothing more important than health.

My new year’s resolution for 2017 is … be healthier; have more trust in people, so I can find more time for myself; do things that I have postponed doing, like travelling more and spending more time with my family.

Born in Canada and raised in Hong Kong, designer Melissa Bui studied at the prestigious London College of Fashion before interning for Matthew Williamson in London, and later working as an assistant designer to Barney Cheng. In 2013, Bui launched her first collection and has not looked back.

To me, Christmas means ... drinking mulled wine in the cold while nibbling on gingerbread men.

This Christmas, my wish list includes … adopting two new bunnies and spending every moment with my adorable niece and nephew.

For my loved ones, I wish ... happiness and… bunnies for everyone.

My favourite place to spend the holiday is … home, where my wonderful mother cooks up a feast, and we all exchange gifts that we carefully chose for one another.

My favourite Christmas memory is ... spending the holidays in Finland with my family, meeting “Santa” for the first time, riding reindeer sledges and building snowmen.

My top holiday fashion tip is … Christmas only comes once a year, seize the opportunity and wear something sparkly.

My new year’s resolution for 2017 is … to lead a healthier lifestyle, starting with practising more yoga.
