Free agent Jeremy Lin is the only member of the G League’s top 10 points per game scorers to not be signed to an NBA team this season.

Lin, who is hoping to make an NBA comeback this season, played for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League, averaging 19.8 points per game in his nine appearances. His performances have led to calls for teams to sign the 32-year-old by his supporters.

The Indiana Pacers extended Oshae Brissett’s stay with the team on Sunday, signing him to another 10-day contract. Brissett had the 10th highest points per game in the G League bubble while Lin was seventh highest.

Top of the points per game list was Kevin Porter Jnr who has been signed by the Houston Rockets while Lin’s Santa Cruz Warriors teammate Jordan Poole is now at the Golden State Warriors.

G League MVP and Rookie of the Year Paul Reed is at the Philadelphia 76ers, Jared Harper is at the New York Knicks, and Henry Ellenson is now a free agent having signed for the Toronto Raptors on a 10-day contract.

Ellenson, who came third in the MVP vote behind Porter and Reed, was released last month.

Similarly, Ignas Brazdeikis has been let go by the 76ers who have also signed Rayjon Tucker.

Nico Mannion, who praised Lin’s role as a mentor while his teammate with Santa Cruz, is also at the NBA Warriors.

Lin has been linked with a return to the Golden State Warriors after playing for the Santa Cruz Warriors in the G League.

The NBA Warriors signed Gary Payton on a 10-day contract which runs until April 17. The team will need to sign another player by May 2, even if that is on a 10-day contract.

New York Times basketball reporter Marc Stein pointed out that Lin had been overlooked in a tweet after Brissett’s contract extension.

“The Pacers say they have signed Oshae Brissett to a second 10-day contract,” Stein wrote. “Brissett’s recent call-up left Jeremy Lin as the only player among the top 11 scorers from the NBA G League bubble without an NBA contract or having spent at least some time in the league this season.”

Meanwhile, Yogi Ferrell – who had the 37th best points per game in the G League – is rumoured to be signing with the Los Angeles Clippers.

Lin will be eligible to play in the NBA play-offs provided that he is signed before the end of the regular season.

The nine-year NBA veteran last played for the Toronto Raptors in 2019 before signing for the Beijing Ducks in the Chinese Basketball Association last season.

“Linsanity” star Lin has recently been an outspoken critic of anti-Asian hate in the US.
