Injury-hit Annie Au has to settle for second best

It was a disappointing day for the Au family on Saturday as they came up short in the women's and men's finals of the Hong Kong Squash Championships.
Women's top seed Annie Au Wing-chi, who came into the finals at Hong Kong Squash Centre in Admiralty with a knee injury, struggled to gain a foothold against second seed Joey Chan Ho-ling, who dominated to win 3-0 (11-6, 11-8, 11-7).
Men's top seed Max Lee Ho-yin made a dramatic comeback after losing the first set to grab the next three sets and down second seed Leo Au Chin-ming 3-1 (4-11, 11-6, 11-5, 11-7).
"I think I didn't play as well as I should have because I wasted chances to get ahead on six or seven occasions," Lee said.
Annie Au, who was once the world's number six women's player, saw her ranking fall to 16 last year. But so far this year she has defeated three players ranked in the top 10 and reached the final of the Cleveland Classic in Ohio in February.

"The inflammation in my knee cap really affected [my performance], and it has worsened over the last few days as I haven't taken a respite from matches," Au said.
Head coach Tony Choi Yuk-kwan expressed his satisfaction with the overall performance of his players and said the focus now should be on the coming Asian championships in Hong Kong.
