Hole an 18-foot putt and earn HK$180,000 as UBS Hong Kong Open brings interactive golf to the community

18-day roadshow – called HK18 – will visit each of the city’s 18 districts

The UBS Hong Kong Open’s HK18 challenge was launched with a fun promotional video that sees a giant golf ball travelling down the streets of Hong Kong as momentum builds for the tournament kick-off on December 8.

Organisers of the UBS Hong Kong Open will launch a community roadshow, starting on Tuesday, offering an interactive experience – and the chance for someone to putt their way to a cool HK$180,000.

The event, known as HK18, will see the roadshow visit each of the city’s 18 districts.

Negotiating an early water hazard, HK18 will tee off in the Islands district at Mui Wo ferry pier on November 22. The roadshow will finish up 18 days later beneath the Hong Kong Observation Wheel in Central on December 9.

In the quest for HK$180,000, members of the public will have five shots at five different holes of increasing difficulty. If a player makes all five putts, they will be automatically entered into a skills contest that will take place on the practice green at the UBS Hong Kong Open on December 10, after which five contestants will progress to a play-off where they will try their hand at an 18-metre putt. If anyone sinks that putt, they will snap up the big cash prize.
