‘Super Duo’ are five shots behind leaders Australia at the Hong Kong Golf Club as 13-year-old Chan holds her own against more senior players

Hong Kong’s super duo Chloe Chan Cheuk-yee and Taichi Kho hit top form as the pair swept to third place in the leaderboard after day two of the Asia-Pacific Golf Confederation Junior Championship on Thursday.
The pair are now at five under par – five strokes behind leaders Australia – after a solid display at a damp Hong Kong Golf Club at Fanling.
Chan, who is Hong Kong’s youngest competitor at a remarkable young age of 13, has gained plaudits for holding her own against her more senior players.
“It was probably one of my best performances. I rarely score under par on this course,” she said. “It has driven me to work harder for tomorrow.”
Chan teamed up with 16-year-old Kho for the four-ball format on day one and the foursome format on day two. Kho puts the team’s success down to his talented partner.
“Chloe is really, really good. She set me up with a three-footer for birdie from 180 yards; it took the pressure off of me. We have formed a good partnership.”
The pair can go into the final day full of confidence, but despite it being the individual stroke-play format, emphasis on teamwork could not be higher. All competing teams will play 18 holes, generating two scores which contribute to the final standings.

“I try not to have expectations,” says Kho. “We got off to a really bad start yesterday – a bogey on the first – but we managed to get our mental game together and made four birdies after that.”
It will take something special from Hong Kong’s finest youngsters to dethrone defending champions Grace Kim and Jed Morgan of Australia.
“We’re very confident. We provided a combination of straight hitting and good putting. Hopefully we’ll hit some more fairways and greens tomorrow,” said Australia’s third-ranked junior Morgan.
Hong Kong’s Selina Li Yuen-yuet/Yue Yin-ho and Iris Wang Xin Yi/Kevin Wu Sho-wai sit 12th and 15th in the standings respectively.
