Hong Kong is likely to face tough competition from Thailand to host group matches of the Asian Football Confederation’s (AFC) elite club competition, with the regional body setting strict safety requirements including mandatory Covid-19 testing for all players and officials.

The Hong Kong Football Association (HKFA) is bidding to host the group J matches in the elite AFC Champions League (ACL) and second-tier AFC Cup, both groups involving local teams.
