The war of words between Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington has taken another turn.

“The Diamond” kicked off the row with his fellow American Top Team fighter at Saturday’s UFC 242 post-event press conference in Abu Dhabi.

“Jorge [Masvidal] is a buddy of mine, I don’t sell out like f****** Colby Covington and talk bad about people who I roll with,” Poirier said after his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Covington responded by calling Poirier’s comments “childish” and “distasteful”, saying Poirier was just angry because he picked Khabib to beat him.

Now former lightweight interim champion Poirier has escalated things further.

“When I see you again at the gym @colbycovmma it’s on site. I promise you,” he replied on Instagram to a video of Covington’s comments to ESPN’s Ariel Helwani.

Poirier has suggested he could return to American Top Team’s Florida gym to help Jorge Masvidal prepare for his fight against Nate Diaz at UFC 244.

Covington? The former welterweight interim champion is in limbo after failing to agree terms for a fight against titlist Kamaru Usman on November 2.
