UFC: Khabib, Ali Abdelaziz fire back at Conor McGregor after threats – ‘are you typing drunk?’

Khabib Nurmagomedov has got no time for Conor McGregor’s latest rantings.

The former featherweight and lightweight champion posted a series of tweets targeting Nurmagomedov and Justin Gaethje, and their Dominance MMA manager Ali Abdelaziz, as well as Tony Ferguson and Dustin Poirier after the dramatic events of UFC 249.

“It’s me and Justin next as Khabib is the biggest bottle fighter in the game. Guarantee it,” McGregor wrote following Gaethje’s TKO win vs Ferguson. “Justin, there is no danger in a man that hugs legs, we all know.

“Khabib you absolute embarrassment. Scurrying, hiding rat as usual,” he added. “As I have said many times. As has been seen many times. Through the pane of glass it was confirmed what was always known. ‘No comment’ lol. An embarrassment to real fighting.”

Presumably lost for words, Nurmagomedov had simply tweeted “No comment” immediately after Gaethje’s shock win over Ferguson, whom the Russian was originally set to face on April 19. The coronavirus pandemic put paid to the highly anticipated match-up for the fifth time.

McGregor then vowed to go on a “division demolition job” and then move up to 170 pounds before finishing his tirade. But lightweight champion Nurmagomedov was having none of it, reminding the Irishman what happened when they met in October 2018, via a couple of handy visual aids on Twitter.

“Hug legs? Have you forgot how I knock you down, or you typing tweets drunk?” the Russian posted. “Beat you in striking, parts [sic] you up in wrestling, absolutely destroy you in grappling. Made you grab air with your hands, and at the end you gave up. Last one, don’t forget your words ‘it’s only business’.”

Nurmagomedov submitted McGregor at UFC 229 via a fourth-round choke before the bad blood spilled outside the Octagon with the fighters’ teams clashing.

“The Notorious” has called for a rematch ever since and UFC president Dana White was keen to make it before Gaethje beat Ferguson to claim the interim lightweight title on Saturday.

Abdelaziz also joined in the argument, posting several videos mocking McGregor, before shutting down any chance of the former champion fighting Gaethje next.

“He had his chance for that and he picked Cowboy [Donald Cerrone, in January],” Abdelaziz told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto. “He picked the easier fight.

“The two kings of the division are going to fight in Khabib and Justin. Conor can be the co-main event.”

McGregor later appeared to delete a pair of tweets fired back in response at Nurmagomedov and Abdelaziz.

“Yes, hug legs. Hug legs and bathe in tiny bath tubs with groups of men, while touching their legs,” he wrote, alongside a picture of Nurmagomedov and some of his Dagestan teammates in the sauna.

“What the [expletive] is going on here,” he added. “How can this country condemn/punish homosexuals, yet lock their wives and children away, and engage solely in this type of activity. Male only. It’s quite bizarre.”
