UFC: Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz reignite BMF title flame after Twitter feud – ‘hope you upgraded your abs routine’
- ‘Gamebred’ Masvidal reminds fans of his win last year after Nate Diaz claims he is the ‘pound for pound baddest’ fighter
Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz appear to have reignited their “BMF” feud from last year, fuelling rumours of a rematch.
Masvidal (35-13), who beat Diaz via third-round doctor’s stoppage to win the UFC’s one-off ‘BMF’ title at UFC 244 last November, was originally touted to fight welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. The promotion’s president Dana White later said he had “something interesting” in store for the Cuban-American.
After Diaz (20-12) tweeted out that he was in fact “[pound for pound] the baddest m*********** here” – likely in response to former opponent Conor McGregor’s self-picked GOAT rankings – Masvidal said “I bet do differ #1of1.”
The pair of 35-year-olds, who have not fought since the crowning of the UFC’s self-titled “baddest man on the planet”,proceeded to go back and forth without explicitly replying to each other.

Masvidal continued, “Hope you upgraded your abs routine #supernecessary”, with a photo of him body-kicking American Diaz in their previous fight.
While Masvidal officially holds the belt, Diaz had openly disagreed with the doctor’s stoppage and insisted he would have dominated the final two rounds of their fight-round fight should he been allowed to continue.

“Pull-up then,” Diaz tweeted while quoting a previous tweet with a photo of him jabbing Masvidal. The previous tweet said, “This is the time in the fight where him and I realised he didn’t wanna be in this fight anymore.”
White had strongly refuted the idea of a rematch last year but has yet to comment on a potential Masvidal vs Diaz II bout this year.

Diaz’ brother, Nick (26-9, 2 no contests) – who has not fought since 2015 – had expressed interest post-fight to avenge the Masvidal loss, saying “it’s on you Dana White”. The challenge came after Masvidal said he had “baptised” younger brother Nate in that fight.
