Badminton ace Lee Chong Wei to return to Malaysia after successful nose cancer treatment
The 35-year-old will return to Kuala Lumpur after successful treatment

Badminton ace Lee Chong Wei will return to Malaysia this weekend after healing his nose cancer, Malaysia reports said.
The three-time Olympic silver medallist has been receiving treatment in Taiwan since he was diagnosed with the life-threatening disease this summer.
The China Press of Malaysia quoted a reliable source, saying, “Lee has finished his treatment and the result is very good. All the cancer cells disappeared and he has fully recovered from the disease. After sufficient rest, Lee will fly back from Taipei to Kuala Lumpur with his family in a private jet on Sunday”.
The report also said Lee could have returned hom in late September after the treatment but his doctor advised the shuttler to take a rest before flying home. Lee can now celebrate his 36th birthday, which is on October 21, back home with his family, added the report.
Lee has two children and his wife Wong Mew Choo is also a former player in the Malaysia national team.
In July, the Malaysian Badminton Association announced Lee had suffered an unspecified “upper respiratory disease” and would withdraw from the World Championships in Nanjing in August as well as the Asian Games in Indonesia. The news came after he won a silver medal at the Indonesia Open in early July.

Lee has been runner-up three times in the worlds, in 2013, 2015 and 2017, and lifting the world championship title remains one of his biggest ambitions in the sport.
At the 2014 Asian Games, he lost in the semi-finals to China’s Lin Dan and claimed a joint bronze medal with Hong Kong’s Wei Nan.
He said the Indonesia campaign would be his last Asian Games after winning a silver at the 2010 Guangzhou Games and bronze at the 2006 Doha Games.
Lee held the world number one ranking for 199 consecutive weeks from 2008 to 2012 and is widely considered to be one of the world’s best for more than a decade. His rivalry with Lin of China, the two-time Olympic gold medallist, is one of the most fierce in world badminton.
