If you want to take a close look at Xiaomi’s new flagship Mi 10 smartphone without the hassle of leaving your home, the company made a website that can help.
The new feature that Xiaomi calls “VR cloud unboxing” lets you see different colors of the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro from all angles… while inside what appears to be a spaceship, for some reason. The website also lets you see a virtual teardown of the device. A click of a button takes the phone apart, showing its battery, camera modules and chips. It also lets you click to read more about the components.

Xiaomi’s cloud unboxing is its latest step in trying to replicate online what used to be real-world experiences. Last week, Xiaomi launched the Mi 10 series with live-streamed launch because the coronavirus outbreak had led to the cancellation of a slew of tech events. The Mi 10 is Xiaomi’s most expensive Mi series phone so far, thanks to its Qualcomm 5G modem and Snapdragon 865 chip. The standard Mi 10 starts at 3,999 yuan (US$570), and the Mi 10 Pro starts at 4,999 yuan (US$712).
