But their resilience is being seriously tested for certain goods, with a leading cosmetics chain warning that shipping and airfreight costs have already surged by up to 15 per cent.
Sa Sa International chairman Simon Kwok Siu-ming told the South China Morning Post on Friday that...

A Hong Kong fixture since 1945 and with more than 320 outlets across the city today, supermarket chain Wellcome is synonymous with practicality. It is therefore one of the last places one might expect to become a tourist attraction.
Recently, one branch in the Kowloon neighbourhood of Yau Ma Tei has transformed into a photo hotspot, largely thanks to its vibrant in-store tribute to the city’s “golden era” from the 1950s to the 1970s.
Upon entering, customers pass through a “time tunnel” in the...

For the boss of Hong Kong’s largest retail chain – which operates Wellcome, Mannings and 7-Eleven – the key to retaining customers is simple: ensure stores match prices in Shenzhen.

The product being sold throughout the city is a set of two plastic bottles. One is a 530ml (17.9 fluid ounce)...

Hong Kong authorities have reported a sharp drop in the number of plastic bags distributed since a levy on their usage was doubled to HK$1 (13 US cents) late last year, but a check by the Post shows little change at some wet markets.
