CarpetBuyer in Horizon Plaza takes customers on a magic flight to a whole new look
One of the easiest ways to change the feel or look of a home is by using floor textiles. Doing so can immediately add character to a room, especially one with a wooden or tiled floor. This may explain the success of one of Asia’s largest carpet dealers, CarpetBuyer.
Dating back to 1967, CarpetBuyer started as a family business on Wyndham Street and, more than 35 years later, Nadeem Butt launched his family’s venture as the first CarpetBuyer store at Horizon Plaza. From this location, the store caters to local appetites for designer carpets. The showroom has over 5,000 pieces of traditional and contemporary items.
These days, the store houses carpets from all over the world – from contemporary designer rugs, to classic Persian carpets, to shaggy rugs.
The business offers a 50 per cent discount all year round on some of the finest floor textiles available in Hong Kong. This year is no different, and visitors can sift through the store’s newest collection.
“2017 has started off upbeat in a sense that we have added new designers from Europe, who have been doing some good rugs – with the use of bamboo silk and wool mixed – and their designs have more geometry and diamond shapes in greys and white or beige on beige tones,” says Heena Mir, a veteran consultant in the carpet business with CarpetBuyer.
Dhurries – thick flat-woven rugs – are a new category and are made with wool and silk instead of with the rougher materials used in the olden days .
