Event

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali held its annual Appreciation Gathering on February 1. More than 300 of the island’s leading travel agents and media representatives came together for a social evening of local elegance.

Objectives

This annual appreciation event was hosted by the resort to thank its travel and media partners for their tremendous support over the past year. This year’s event also introduced the guests to the new resort’s enhanced lobby, where the setting conceptually emulates a secret garden with clusters of crystalline glass ribbons suspended from the ceiling to mimic migrating flocks of birds.

Challenges and measures

The main challenge was the short preparation time of less than one month to organise such an important event. But it was done smoothly with the various teams collaborating closely.

The annual Appreciation Gathering started with a flashmob performance by costumed dancers from the resort’s sales and marketing team.

The event was held at two different venues: Cocktails were served in the new-look lobby, while the dinner and awards presentation were at the Nusantara Hall. Despite a limited budget for the event, the organiser was still able to offer great entertainment at both venues. At the lobby, the resort’s talented staff gave an unplugged guitar performance, and there was a fashion show by Bali’s leading fashion designer Dwi Iskandar. At the Nusantara Hall, the event started with a flashmob performance by costumed dancers from the resort’s sales and marketing team, followed by a group choir and the Indonesia Idol performance.

The team choir and flashmob performance required the resort’s staff members to commit time to practise, and the coordination work was also a challenge. Despite this, the resort’s employees were able to present an inspired performance for the audience and received a great round of applause.

Results

With a great turnout of guests, the event went well and the flow was smooth. It has successfully showcased the resort’s new lobby to the guests, and the dinner buffet prepared by the resort’s executive chef Manoj Rawat also represented the treats from the resort’s different F&B venues. Awards were presented to the best supporters in various categories.

“Time to Shine got 2018 off to a positive start by enabling our associates and travel industry executives to connect in an uplifting setting away from the office,” says Alex Dietzsch, executive assistant manager of The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali. “It was also an opportunity for us to acknowledge and reward our partners who have helped us successfully navigate the past year.”
