Themed MICE trips raise fun factor for participants
Most popular themes are green tourism, food and wine, cruise, volunteering and sports
Companies are increasingly adopting themes for MICE trips to enhance participants’ experiences, according to a survey by the organiser of ITE MICE exhibition in Hong Kong.
Themes include green tourism (64 per cent of respondents), food and wine (52 per cent), cruise (38 per cent), volunteering (32 per cent) and sports (27 per cent). When hosting a corporate event on a cruise ship, the top three considerations are routing/destination (71 per cent of respondents), event facilities (60 per cent), entertainment options (50 per cent) and dining experience (48 per cent).
Fifty-two per cent say their company held an overseas event last year, and 49 per cent say their company will do so again within the next two years.
Thirty-seven per cent say their company will spend more on travel in the coming year, while 13 per cent say their corporations would cut back their expenditure; and half the respondents see no change in spending.
