Singapore is known for its diverse and quality food, and the city state is set to host its biggest gourmet and lifestyle event next month.

The inaugural The GREAT Food Festival is a collaboration between Asia’s award-winning Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) and Savour Events, the international gourmet festival curator and leading organiser of food and beverage and lifestyle events – notably large-scale food festivals.

The GREAT Food Festival will be held over four days, from September 21 to 24, at various RWS venues, with a combined space of 215,000 sq ft.

The event promises to be Singapore’s most ambitious and wide-ranging food festival to date, and will feature the biggest collection of 30 international culinary stars from around the world, including a team of RWS celebrity chefs who will be coming together for the first time to showcase their masterpieces.

“Our excellent variety of dining choices – from Malaysian Food Street to our exciting collection of celebrity and multi-star Michelin restaurants – has been very popular with food lovers,” says Yim Choong Hing, senior vice-president of hospitality at RWS.

“Complementing our own signature events, such as the exclusive Art at Curate dining series and RWS Street Eats, we are bringing something new and noteworthy to the table with The GREAT Food Festival.

“This will be the biggest gourmet event to be held at RWS and the largest in Singapore, setting a new benchmark for food festivals in Asia.”

The festival is grouped into five segments: Star Chef Arena, Heritage Lane, Rollin’ Sweet Times, Feast of Kings, and Connoisseur Collection. Visitors are invited to try specially created dishes by star chefs, discover heritage-inspired food from more than 10 countries, sample some of the fare from a wide selection of Asian desserts and pastries, attend live demo sessions and baking masterclasses to learn cooking techniques, and take part in an extravagant medieval banquet while enjoying the option to indulge in a “4-hands dinner” prepared by award-winning chefs from the Star Chef Arenatogether with the celebrated resident chefs of RWS.

RWS holds the highest number of Michelin stars as a single dining destination in Singapore.

During the festival, celebrated chefs who are converging at the Star Chef Arena will include Italian chefs Enrico and Roberto Cerea from the three Michelin-starred Da Vittorio, who are the names behind RWS’s Fratelli restaurant.

The American chef Cat Cora, who made history on Food Network’s Iron Chef Americaby becoming the first and only woman to be named Iron Chef, will also be attending together with Australian-born Scott Webster, who heads RWS’s Michelin-starred Osia Steak and Seafood Grill.

Singapore’s own celebrity chef Sam Leong of RWS’s Forest and the famed Michael Michaelidis of Joël Robuchon Restaurant, Singapore’s only dining establishment to have been awarded three Michelin stars for two consecutive years, will also be present.

The Star Chef Arena is for ticket-holders only; dishes start from S$10 (HK$57).

Excitement is palpable within the Savour Events team when executive director, Darren Chen, announces: “We share a common vision to curate one-of-a-kind gourmet experiences through The GREAT Food Festival, which will reinforce Singapore’s reputation as the city of choice for dining in the region.”
