'Ding dong the witch is dead': Emotional Australian Jason Day breaks through at PGA Championship
Bruised but toughened by a difficult childhood, Australia’s Jason Day endured several close calls at the majors before finally landing one with a three-shot victory at the PGA Championship on Sunday. The 27-year-old from Rockhampton in Queensland led from start to finish in the final round at Whistling Straits, closing with a five-under-par 67 before savouring the celebrations with his caddie and long-time coach, Colin Swatton.

Jason Day posted a picture of the Wanamaker Trophy on his Twitter account along with a message that said everything: “Ding dong the witch is dead.”
Day finally broke through and won his first major. No more what-ifs for the kid from Beaudesert, Australia.
In the last couple years, he’s grown up in a lot of ways. And in the last couple months, a switch has flipped. He said, ‘OK, now I’m ready'
In breaking through, he went where no other golfer had gone before. His 20-under score to win the PGA Championship set a new major record in relation to par.
And nobody will ever say he took the easy route. He played in the final group with Jordan Spieth and never gave a glimmer of hope to the Masters and US Open champion.
Day’s wife, Ellie, was holding court on the 18th green afterwards while their son, Dash, played in the sand trap.
She recalled the long road her husband took from a club-throwing, foul-mouthed 20-year-old to a major champion at the age of 27.
