Ng On-yee and Leanne Evans stay on course for world championship semi-final clash

Hong Kong snooker star beats compatriot Chu Pui-ying 4-0 to reach the quarter-finals in Singapore

Hong Kong’s Ng On-yee comfortably reached the quarter-finals of the Eden World Women’s Championship after thrashing compatriot Chu Pui-ying in a one-sided game in Singapore on Thursday.

The 2015 champion was hardly tested as she won 4-0 in the best-of-seven tie. Joining Ng in the last eight is favourite and 11-time world champion Reanne Evans, of England, who also cruised 4-0 over Germany’s Diana Schuler in her last-16 match.

Evans, who defeated the Hong Kong player in the semi-finals of the world championship last year, is seeded to meet Ng again in the last four this time if the form book holds.

The Englishwomen has yet to drop a frame since the beginning of the tournament. Ng will take on Thailand’s Waratthanun Sukritthanes in the quarter-finals today.
