World record holder Sohail Tanvir to lead Pakistan in Hong Kong Cricket Sixes
The 32-year-old took five for three in the Caribbean Premier League - the best-ever economy rate for a five-wicket haul in T20
Giant all-rounder Sohail Tanvir and former test player Mohammed Sami are included in a seven-strong Pakistan squad who are aiming for a sixth triumph at the Hong Kong Sixes this month.
The 32-year-old, 1.96m-tall Sohail - who holds the T20 record for five-wicket haul bowling economy – will captain a side who comprise experienced provincial players along with a handful of youngsters.
The 36-year-old Sami, who has played 36 tests, 87 one-day internationals and 13 T20 matches, is the most experienced player while limited-overs specialist Sohail and 33-year-old Sohail Khan also have test experience.
The youngest member of the side is 21-year-old Sahibzada Farhan, who has yet to play for Pakistan at international level. Also in the squad are Anwar Ali (22 ODIs), Jaahid Ali, and Hammad Azam.
Bilawal Bhatti and Sahibzada Farhan are named as reserved players while Major (retired) Naeem Akhar Gilani has been appointed as manager for the event.
Pakistan won the inaugural in 1992 and also triumphed in 1997, 2001, 2002 and 2011. They were runners-up in 2003, 2006, 2010 and at the last tournament in 2012 when they were beaten in the final by South Africa.
Along with England, they hold the record for most victories with five. England have also finished runners-up four times.
