A week of tragedy for the family of Emiliano Sala with death of father and leaked morgue photo of late footballer
- Father of Cardiff player dies of a heart attack just three months after his son was killed in a plane crash
- Police in Britain are investigating leaked photo of Sala’s body in morgue that was posted online

The family of late footballer Emiliano Sala has been hit by additional pain just days after the 58-year-old father of the Argentinian striker died of a heart attack in Progreso, Argentina.
Horacio Sala was found dead in his home just three months after his 28-year-old son, Emiliano, was killed after the plane carrying him from France to join his new teammates at Cardiff City crashed near the Channel Islands in January.
To add to the tragedy, reports say Emiliano’s best friend and fellow footballer, Sebastian Rabellino, died just last week from a fatal car crash in the small town of Progreso.
In January, Horacio Sala went on a desperate search for the plane after it disappeared on its way to Britain from Nantes. “I cannot believe it. This is a dream. A bad dream. I am desperate,” Horacio said before the footballer’s body was found two weeks after the crash during a privately funded search.
In a new development sure to cause the family more pain, police in Britain are investigating how images of the late footballer’s body in a morgue were posted online two days after Horacio Sala passed away. The image was uploaded on to Twitter but was quickly taken down.
