Judo world champion Huh Mi-mi, 21, was born in Japan, but decided to give up her Japanese citizenship to compete under South Korea’s colours.

The decision, made nearly three years ago, was in keeping with her late grandmother’s wishes.

She is now training hard in hopes of earning a gold medal for South Korea at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
