Asian basketball fans have reason to cheer after NBA champion Jeremy Lin gave a hint about his future plans during his visit to Taiwan.
According to reports in Taiwanese media, the 30-year-old free agent is considering playing in the region.
“About five years ago, I began to consider whether I should play basketball in Asia, because every year when I visit the region I see so many fans, and they make me want to play a few seasons in the region,” Lin said in Taipei.
“I would consider it,” Lin said of playing in Asia. “And of course, my greatest dream is to play on the same team as my younger brother.”




Lin’s brother, Joseph, plays in Taiwan’s Super Basketball League with the Fubon Braves.
Both of the brothers won their respective leagues last season. The younger Lin helped the Braves to the SBL championship in May before Lin Snr lifted the NBA crown with the Toronto Raptors last season.

Lin has since left the Raptors, but has not announced his next move. However, he indicated that a return to Asia, where he played with Chinese side Guangdong Southern Tigers during the 2012 NBA lockout, is not on the agenda in the near future.
Wherever he moves – and he has been linked with a return to the Charlotte Hornets – it will be driven by his happiness.
“You know, sometimes when you join this team or that team, to play under certain conditions, such as under a particular coach, you may find that you're not very happy in that environment,” he said. “I want to avoid that.”
Lin is in Taiwan as part of his annual Asia tour.
