Like most of us, Dimitrije Curcic has had a lot of extra time on his hands lately.

The sports content director for RunRepeat, an online shoe review website, compiled an exhaustive database of all the basketball films he could find, which stands at 150. Curcic, a self-described “basketball nerd”, searched high and low for the best, the worst, and pretty much every film that has hoops involved in it.

“I spent several days gathering all information, including box office data, for every movie,” said Curcic, who used to play basketball in his home country of Serbia.

Curcic chose 10 films he thought were integral for basketball fans to watch, based on a number of factors, and explained why he picked them.

“I find these films to be more impactful than classic basketball films where you have a team that starts as an underdog and eventually wins it all,” he said. “I think a great basketball movie takes more serious problems and emotions and uses the game a part of the story to send a more powerful message. It’s not just about the game.”
