Jeremy Lin has been training with the G League Ignite team while he waits for an offer in NBA free agency, according to reports.
The news came on Monday, with basketball reporter Adam Zagoria tweeting that it had been confirmed by league sources.
“NBA free agent @JLin7 practised with the G League Ignite team this weekend ahead of their scrimmages this week, per league sources,” he wrote.
“He spent last season with the Beijing Ducks of the CBA.”

Lin left the Ducks in the summer at the end of the Chinese Basketball Association season, telling fans he wanted one more shot at the NBA.
Speaking to his Chinese fans on Douyin in a live-stream on Saturday, Lin told them: “I can only say it’s complicated now. It’s rather complicated. Maybe one day I can tell all the details.”

This was the same live-stream where Lin had said there was no news he could share on his future.
“For me, I still work hard every day, because I know one day there will be a chance to win, no matter in the NBA, CBA, any other league.”
He had left the NBA during free agency in 2019 when, after winning the NBA championship with the Toronto Raptors, he received no offers.

Instead, he chose to sign for the Beijing Ducks, where he averaged 22.7 points, 5.6 rebounds and 5.6 assists per game as he took the Ducks to their first postseason since 2016.
They lost to the eventual champions, Guangdong Southern Tigers, in the semi-finals.
The 32-year-old previously played in the G League – when it was called the D or Development League – for the Reno Bighorns in the 2010-11 season, after graduating from Harvard.


He averaged 18 points and 4.7 assists with Reno in 20 games before moving to the Golden State Warriors.
The G League Ignite team were founded in April this year. They play outside the traditional G League set-up and are part of the NBA’s fast track one-year development plan for elite prospects.
Filipino teenager Kai Sotto signed to the G League Ignite in May, while DR Congo’s Jonathan Kuminga, the highest rated high schooler in the US, followed in July. Several veterans have since signed with the Ignite.

The future of this season’s G League remains up in the air as officials ponder playing in a bubble. If that happens, not all 28 teams are expected to play.
