Chinese fan favourite Klay Thompson has risen on the NBA All-Star fan vote lists from 10th among guards in the West to eighth after the second of voting.

Thompson’s vote more than doubled from 100,000 to 225,000 in a week, with fans keen on getting the Golden State Warriors on the court despite being out injured since 2019.

Thompson’s Golden State Warriors teammate Steph Curry leads the West guards – and guards overall – on more than 4 million votes. He is behind only LeBron James and Kevin Durant overall.

James, who has been a vocal critic of the All-Star Game going ahead, now leads overall after overtaking Durant.

Thompson, who had the fewest votes on the 40-man list after round one, has overtaken Portland Trailblazers guard CJ McCollum and Los Angeles Lakers’ Alex Caruso.
