Jeremy Lin said he will not become a coach when he hangs up his basketball shoes, unless it is part of his charitable work.

Speaking after Santa Cruz Warriors’ win over the Austin Spurs on Sunday, which marked Lin’s return to the court after missing five games, the 32-year-old told media of his future plans.

“Look man, I’m not taking any credit for the coaching. I’m giving that all to the coaching staff,” he said of the NBA G League team, where the nine-year NBA veteran has been a leader for younger players such as Nico Mannion and Jordan Poole.

“When I’m done, I’m done,” Lin said, responding to whether he will take his experience as a player in the NBA and Chinese Basketball Association, where he played for the Beijing Ducks last season, into a coaching role once he retires.

“Unless it’s with my foundation or underprivileged children or something like that when I’m done you won‘t see me on the sidelines,” he said. “I will be with my foundation and that‘s what I want to do when I’m done.”
