Hong Kong Eastern bounced back from their disappointing loss last time out with a 109-64 rout of Louvre Surabaya in the Asean Basketball League (ABL) on Saturday night.
The win sealed a home and away double over the Indonesian side this season, and cemented Eastern’s position at the top of the league ahead of Sunday’s clash with the Saigon Heat.
The Hong Kong franchise surrendered their perfect record this season in a 71-67 loss to the Macau Black Bears on Thursday night.
But there was no repeat of that under-par performance at the Hi-Test Arena in Batam.
O’Darien Bassett – who had the luxury of sitting out last Sunday’s 101-51 blowout of Louvre Surabaya – was on form right from the start.

The American import knocked down two from long range to chip in 10 points as Eastern led 21-17 after the opening quarter.
Bassett continued to find form in the second quarter, and his third from long range sparked an 11-5 run as Eastern started to pull away.
A 32-22 lead became an 18-point cushion for Eastern at half-time. Bassett – who made five three-pointers – led the game with 19 points at the interval. Canadian import Chris McLaughlin also had 14 points to his name.
The 36-year-old Bassett was then given a breather in the second half, but Eastern remained in complete control.
Eastern – who shot 58 per cent from the field – went on to win by 45 points and improved their season record to five wins in six games.

Five Eastern players – Bassett, McLaughlin, Gilbert, Marco Leung Ka-hin and Adam Xu – finished with double figures. Leung, who came off the bench, shot 4 of 8 from behind the arc to finish with 14 points.
Eastern – Hong Kong’s only professional team – will next play the Heat on Sunday afternoon, in a battle between the top two sides of the league.
The 2017 champions will then wrap up their Indonesian stop against Malaysian side NS Matrix next Tuesday.
The ABL debutants have won four of their first six games this season, after defeating Philippines franchise Zamboanga Valientes 98-88 in Saturday’s early match.
