What time does the Mayweather-McGregor fight start in Hong Kong? And how can I watch it on TV?

Everybody will be talking about the big fight in work on Monday. Make sure you don’t miss out on the spectacle on everyone’s lips. Here’s what you need to know about catching it in Hong Kong

Las Vegas’ T-Mobile Arena will host the fight of the year so far on Saturday night. Perhaps not strictly as a contest – Floyd Mayweather Jnr is a big favourite with the bookmakers and they rarely back the wrong horse – but purely as a spectacle. The hype surrounding the bout has been on a scale rarely seen before with the fight expected to surpass all previous pay-per-view revenue records.

The smart money is on the Las Vegas-based boxer. His thus-far unbeaten record, as well as the opinions of most boxing observers, suggest the American should make it to the big five-zero against the Irish MMA upstart Conor McGregor.
However, there are some McGregor supporters about and they’re talking up the UFC champion’s chances quite convincingly.
Either way, it’s an event you don’t want to miss, and luckily it’s being screened at a great time for us here in Hong Kong.

What time does it start?

The fight card in Las Vegas consists of eight bouts, four of which will be televised. A couple of the undercard fights are set to be entertaining bouts and, as a contest, the fight between Wales’ Nathan Cleverly and Sweden’s Badou Jack could be the highlight of the night.

The televised undercard fights being at 6pm Pacific time which is 9am for us here in Hong Kong.

Three undercard fights will be televised ahead of the main event:

Andrew Tabiti (USA, 14-0) v Steve Cunningham (USA, 29-8-1), for the USBA cruiserweight title followed by;

Nathan Cleverly (GBR, 30-3) v Badou Jack (SWE, 21-1-2), for the WBA (regular) light heavyweight title followed by;

Gervonta Davis (USA, 18-0) v Francisco Fonseca (CRC, 19-0-1) – Davis was stripped of his IBF super featherweight championship after failing to make weight, and Fonseca can win the vacant title.

The main event is set to get underway at between 11am-12pm (Hong Kong time).

As with all major boxing cards, the action can be delayed for any number of reasons.

Remember, the Mayweather-Pacquiao superfight in 2015 was deliberately delayed by the organisers so as to allow more TV viewers to complete their PPV purchases amid a late rush to buy-in.
