“One Time” had goaded Pacquiao with plenty of trash talk before the fight, even saying he would “crucify” the deeply religious fighting senator.
Pacquiao’s camp said that did not go down well with him, and the eight-division world champion shoved Thurman’s words back in his face.
Both fighters weighed in at 146.5 pounds, with Pacquiao competing in his 28th world title fight. And the Filipino set the tone for his victory by scoring a stunning knockdown in the first round.

He dominated the first half of the fight, but Thurman came back into it in the later rounds to make it close.
The announcement of a split decision was still a surprise to many. Judges Dave Moretti and Tim Cheatham both scored the fight as 115-112 for Pacuiao. Glenn Feldman gave Thurman seven rounds – all but one since the fifth round – scoring it 114-113 for the American.
