Errol Spence has said a welterweight title unification fight with Manny Pacquiao will “definitely” happen in 2020.

IBF champion Spence (25-0, 21 KOs) faces WBC champion Shawn Porter at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, California, on Saturday night.

A victory would put the undefeated American on a collision course for a three-title unification bout with WBA champion Pacquiao (62-7-2, 39 KOs), who got a split decision against Keith Thurman in July at the age of 40.

“I think I am the best fighter in the welterweight division and in boxing,” Spence told PBC on Fox. “This is my time to prove it. Timing is everything. I’m going to get the fights that I need to prove I am the best in the world.

“Getting past Shawn Porter with the performance that I know I can put on against him, and then getting the fight that I want after that and that’s the Manny Pacquiao fight.”
