Hong Kong professional boxer Raymond Poon Kai-ching said he is determined to reclaim his lost belt or win an equivalent title after losing the WBC (World Boxing Council) Asia Continental light-flyweight crown – his second loss of that belt in his career.

A panel of three Filipino judges dished out a unanimous decision loss to Poon last month and awarded Jerry Francisco – a Philippine boxer boasting an identical pre-fight 9-2-0 record – his 10th career win in Valencia City in the Philippines after a 10-round bout.

“I probably couldn’t win but certainly I wasn’t expecting a landslide loss like this – it was disappointing,” the Hongkonger said.

“I wasn’t quite in the bout early on and my opponent was throwing some ‘grey area’ techniques such as head butts and low blows in the opening few rounds.

“I wasn’t prepared for these because these just don’t happen when you spar in Hong Kong.”
