China’s Sui Wenjing and Han Cong, who finished second in this year’s World Figure Skating Championships, won the free programme on Saturday to capture the Skate America pairs title.
Sui and Han scored 133.72 points in the long skate final to finish on 202.00 and claim victory at the first event of the 2015-16 ISU Grand Prix season.
Reigning US champions Alexa Scimeca and Chris Knierim, who were surprise leaders after the short programme, settled for second with 191.97 points after fading to fourth in the free skate with 122.28.

No US pair has won a Grand Prix event since 2006.
Canada’s Julianne Seguin and Charlie Bilodeau were third on 189.49, edging Ksenia Stolbova and Fedor Klimov by .43 in the overall standings despite finishing third behind the Russian duo in the free programme.
