The Brooklyn Nets’ Jeremy Lin is among four basketball stars to appear in the latest NBA commercial aimed at its burgeoning Chinese market to celebrate the approaching Lunar New Year.
Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry, James Harden of the Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans’ centre Anthony Davis also feature in the 30-second spot in which paper figures of the quartet play two-on-two before declaring “Happy Chinese New Year”.
‘Secret Envelope’ features an elderly man gifting a traditional red envelope to a young boy, who opens it releasing miniature versions of the players onto the coffee table.
The Lunar New Year period between January 27 and February 12 will feature a record 60 NBA games broadcasted in China.
Several NBA teams, including the Toronto Raptors, the Rockets, the Warriors and the Washington Wizards will wear special Lunar New Year uniforms during the holiday period.
