Yannick Carrasco ‘saves life’ of teammate Nico Gaitan after horror collision in Chinese Super League
Dalian Yifang player collides with Beijing Guoan counterpart before Belgian runs over to make sure he does not swallow his tongue
Dalian Yifang’s Belgian international Yannick Carrasco rushed to the aid of his teammate Nico Gaitan after the Argentine was injured in the Chinese Super League match with Beijing Guoan on Friday night.
Gaitan fell to the ground in the 56th minute after an off-the-ball clash with a Guoan defender and his teammates immediately signalled for medical attention.
Carrasco ran to the stricken midfielder and applied first aid to clear his airway. Gaitan is reportedly under observation in hospital.
The pair joined Dalian Yifang in the winter transfer window from Atletico Madrid. So far their China adventure has not gone so well with the team losing their first three games of the season and yet to score. Friday’s game finished 3-0 to the visitors and the Dalian side are rooted to the bottom of the CSL table.
