Jeremy Lin answered his critics in style as the Beijing Ducks beat the Xinjiang Flying Tigers in the Chinese Basketball Association in Qingdao on Wednesday.

The NBA champion had been criticised in some quarters for failing to win matches in the manner of other foreign stars, including former Beijing Ducks favourite Stephon Marbury, with some calling him the “CBA’s worst foreign player”.

However, Lin silenced the doubters with an influential performance. He scored 22 points in 21 minutes on court in a 78-67 win over last year’s CBA finalists. The score was a record low for Xinjiang.

Lin also had nine assists and three steals despite sitting out the fourth quarter to rest his injured knee. Teammate Ekpe Udoh helped shut Xinjiang down in that final quarter.

“We did a good job in defence, keeping the high-scoring team to 67 points in total. I will get better to help my team in the tough games,” Udoh said.

Lin was also positive after the game, coming off Tuesday’s loss to the Nanjing Monkey Kings.
