CBA: Jeremy Lin visits hospital for injuries; says Beijing Ducks loss ‘heartbreaking and really hurts’

  • Ducks coach Xie Libin says NBA champion could not hear after games following injuries to ears, nose and eyes
  • Star was sent to the floor several times by Guangdong Southern Tigers players as the teams battled for a place in the finals

While Jeremy Lin’s Beijing Ducks teammates returned to the Chinese capital on Sunday following their play-offs semi-final defeat to the Guangdong Southern Tigers, the NBA champion has reportedly stayed in Qingdao.

A photograph posted to a fan account claimed to show Lin visiting the port city’s Qingdao University Affiliated Hospital, which was subsequently shared on social media.

Ducks coach Xie Libin told Chinese media that Lin had paid the price for shouldering the defensive burden and other teams targeting him.

“He has dropped the ball so many times in each game. You must know that he is also in his 30s and has played in the NBA for many years. In this series with the Guangdong team, his old injuries, his nose and eyes, including his ears – he couldn't always hear after playing the game.”

Lin was sent to the floor several times during the best-of-three series, just as he had been many times in the regular season.

Xie also praised Lin as the best defender among all the foreigners he has seen in the CBA.

Lin holds his nose after another clash.

“He is very involved in the defensive end, many times he is using the cost of physical injury to do defence,” Xie said.

Lin was pictured bleeding in his first weeks in the CBAand also posted a picture of a split lip from a game last month after the league resumed.

However, it seems that the real pain for Lin came in the loss to the CBA champions, where he sank to his knees after missing a buzzer beater to take game three to overtime.

Lin is helped up by Zhai Xiaochuan.

“I’m sorry I had too much emotion yesterday and I didn’t know what to say … I didn’t sleep all night,” he wrote on Weibo on Sunday. “Frankly speaking, such a defeat was heartbreaking. It really hurts.”
