Jeremy Lin’s future with the Beijing Ducks next season has been cast into further doubt as the player has not appeared on the list of Chinese Basketball Association foreigners to have had their contracts automatically extended by their clubs.

As per CBA rules, foreigners can automatically be tied to their clubs for another campaign by paying them 10 per cent more than the previous season.

A list of 23 players from 14 of the league’s 20 teams was announced by the CBA on Monday but there were none from the Beijing Ducks.

Lin joined the team ahead of the 2019-20 season following free agency from the NBA after a nine-year career that began with his “Linsanity” breakout with the New York Knicks and ended with him as an NBA champion with the Toronto Raptors.

The player quickly became one of the Chinese league’s stars and was the top-voted player for the North in the CBA All-Star Game, only behind league legend Yi Jianlian overall.

Following the league returning to action after being postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic, Lin helped the Ducks to third place on the standings.
