Former England youth international Ty Browning and his Guangzhou Evergrande teammate Fernandinho have been named in China’s 28-man training squad for its upcoming camp, the Chinese Football Association has confirmed.
The newly eligible naturalised Chinese players join Brazil-born Elkeson and former England youth international Nico Yennaris in the October camp in Shanghai.
Li Tie’s side will meet from October 4-9 to prepare for the delayed 2022 Fifa World Cup Asian qualifiers, which have been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
China last played in December, 2019, beating Hong Kong in the EAFF E-1 Finals in South Korea.

March’s scheduled World Cup qualifiers were initially moved to Thailand before being moved to October and later postponed until 2021.

Central defender Browning was born in Liverpool and came through the Everton academy.
Browning represented England at under-21 level and played for Wigan Athletic, Preston North End and Sunderland on loan before signing for Guangzhou Evergrande in 2019.
He is eligible for naturalisation as he has Chinese ancestry, while Fernandinho qualifies on residency having lived in China for five years.

The Brazil-born winger arrived at Chongqing Lifan in 2015. He signed for the champions last year but spent the 2019 Chinese Super League season on loan at Hebei China Fortune.
While there was a place for Browning (known as Jiang Guangtai in China) and Fernandinho (Fei Nanduo), both Alan Carvalho (A Lan) and Aloisio (Luo Guofu) missed out this time.
Ricardo Goulart, who has also naturalised, is not yet eligible to represent China.
Oscar willing to play for China if Fifa change the rules
China’s policy of naturalising players has proved controversial but many deem it a necessary step on the country’s path to reaching a second Fifa World Cup finals.
They have qualified just once, at the 2002 tournament held in Japan and South Korea.
A recent Fifa rule change means that players can switch to play for another nation for which they qualify if they have played a limited number of times and before the age of 21.
