China’s Jackson He catches the eye for Arizona State University in US college football
- Sun Devil He Peizhang believed to be the only Chinese player at that level of American football
- Running back only started playing American football five years ago when he arrived in the US from Guangdong as a 17-year-old

Jackson He. Remember the name.
Although you might have struggled to read it on the back of his jersey on Saturday night as he suited up for Arizona State University’s American football team for the first time, it was written in Chinese.
He Peizhang, as he is also known, walked on to the Sun Devils as a running back and is reported to be the only Chinese national playing at that level of college football.
The ASU website describes He as “a physical and smart athlete that has found a home at the running back position entering his second season with the programme”.
He “has picked up the game extremely quickly having only starting playing football five years ago”, adding that as “one of the nation’s only college football players from China, he has impressed the coaches with his ability to immediately learn the offence and the language”.
