Arizona State University’s Jackson He, who is believed to be the only Chinese player at the FBS level of NCAA American football, made history on Friday night.

He not only got into the game for the Arizona State University Sun Devils on Friday night but scored a debut touchdown as his team won the Territorial Cup at Arizona Stadium in Tuscon.

With 7:11 left on the fourth quarter clock, the running back picked up the ball on a first and goal play then fought off a tackle to carry over into the end zone.

His touchdown rounded off a 70-7 win over the University of Arizona Wildcats.

To celebrate his score He pointed to his name, written in Chinese, on the back of his No 32 jersey. He later told a post-game interview that he wanted to show that, “Chinese can ball, too.”

He made headlines last week when college football fans noticed the eye-catching nameset on his jersey, which features his Chinese name He Peizheng.
